Mouthguards, Performance and Concussion - What is the connection?

Dr. Paul Piccininni received both his Honours Bachelor of Science and his Dental Degree from the University of Toronto. He completed a Residency at the Toronto Western Hospital, and has been a part-time staff member as well as a guest lecturer at the U of T Department of Preventive Dentistry for many years. Dr. Piccininni is the senior member of the IOC Medical Commission Games Group and has worked at every Summer and Winter Olympic Games since 1996. He is also a member of the IIHF Medical Committee, and is the Team Dentist for the Mississauga Steelheads of the Ontario Hockey League, the development organization for the National Hockey League Dr. Piccininni has coordinated medical teams for countless events in Toronto including World Championships in Ice Hockey, Athletics, Basketball and Lacrosse. He has also served as Medical Supervisor for over 20 international championships run by the IIHF, and is the senior Dental Consultant for both Hockey Canada and Canada Basketball. Dr. Piccininni is an internationally recognized speaker, and has lectured in such diverse locations as Monaco, Kyoto, Dubai, Berne, Cologne, Sydney and Barcelona. He was part of the Organizing Committee for the First World Congress on Concussion in Sports, and was a member of the Scientific Committee for the IOC Congress on Injury Prevention in Monte Carlo in 2014.
