The Platinum Rule for Technical Communications

Summary:

Ineffective communication results in a 34% reduction in productivity and a 5% failure rate. Think about that. One-third of your interactions and rendered ineffective because of a lack of clear communication protocosl and actions. We will focus our workshop on understanding technical communication styles and how to best address them. We will move from the golden rule, ’Treat others how you want to be treated’, to the platinum rule, ’Treat others how they want to be treated’.

By the end of the workshop, you will understand what you need to do to effectively communicate with your team, your patients, your suppliers and any other stakeholders. You will understand the strategies needed to align and deliver your vision and mission, both on a large scale and day to day. You will be leave with tools and technique that you can immediately implement to streamline you communications and drive better results.

Avnish is born and raised in Calgary and loves this town. His career has taken him all over the world and he uses those experiences in his day to day work. He has built three successful companies in the last 15 years. Currently he heads up Stand and Command, a global presentation and public speaking consulting practice, is an owner of the Village Brewery and is in the midst of raising capital to build a $70MM food hall concept in the East Village, which will help address two major societal needs, food security and food sustainability. Avnish is deeply connected to his community. He is the current Chair of the Calgary Public Library Board, on the fundraising committee for the Calgary Folk Music Festival, and is a member of the Community Relations governance committee at Bow Valley College. He won numerous awards for his work and was recently named a Top 40 under 40. Avnish believes deeply in equity and fairness. These are the values that drive his behaviour on a day to day basis. He is passionate about many things, the most of which is people.
